The Hartford Whalers racked up a win at Wolves Ballpark, bumping off the Ocean City Blue Crabs, 5-4. Mike Thurman, who started for Hartford, pitched effectively for his team. Thurman got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Thurman allowed 4 earned runs. Cory Lidle earned the save, his 8th.
In the bottom of the fourth, Hartford right fielder Alex Ochoa had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Ochoa stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 3-2, Hartford. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Ochoa said.
Hartford, now 14-8, has gotten their season off to a good start.
