Close Win Moves Swamp Foxes to 14-7
|
The Rochester Red Wings got a superb performance from pitcher Darryl Scott, but the Savannah Swamp Foxes still won the game, 5-4. Scott was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Earning his 5th save of the year was Jay Powell. The Swamp Foxes, now 14-7, have been red hot.
The Swamp Foxes got a big at-bat from center fielder Kazuhiko Shiotani. For the game, Shiotani was 2-3 with 2 singles. In the top of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Savannah a 5-4 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Rochester manager . "The effort was great."
