Moonshiners Pull Even With 7-4 Victory
|
The Asheville Moonshiners stopped the Southeast Slammers, 7-4, at Torrance Grounds. The Moonshiners got a big game from Greg Litton, who went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tim Wakefield picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 3-1. The Slammers drop to 10-14 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1995 season.
Litton came through with some timely hitting for Asheville. With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Litton hit a 2-0 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 3-0, Asheville.
"If it's down the middle," said Litton, "you might as well hit it."
