Great Day for Cruz in Moonshiners Win
|
The Asheville Moonshiners knocked off the Milwaukee Otters, 10-5, at Torrance Grounds. Deivi Cruz, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Asheville won. The shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Asheville reliever Chris Howard picked up the win to move to 1-0. Allen Watson suffered the loss. The Moonshiners bumped their record to 14-11 with this latest triumph.
The Asheville win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Billy McMillon. In the bottom of the eighth, the Asheville left fielder came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 6-5 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Cruz, "and today was a good one for us."
