Multi-HR Game for Ochoa in 7-3 Win
|
Spirited fans at Mules Ballpark greeted the Columbus Clippers for their clash with the Hartford Whalers.
The Hartford Whalers bested the Columbus Clippers, 7-3, at Mules Ballpark. Alex Ochoa was named player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2. Mike Thurman was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
Dave Hansen was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk for Hartford. In the top of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 3-3, Hansen delivered for the Whalers. His run-scoring single put Hartford on top, 4-3.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Hartford manager .
The Whalers, now 18-9, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
