Cyclones Continue Skid Thanks to Echevarria, Suns
|
Angel Echevarria left his imprint on the 20-6 Jacksonville win against the Brooklyn Cyclones. Echevarria, who is tied for 4th in the ATL with a .402 batting average, was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 7. Jacksonville reliever Jack McDowell picked up the win to move to 1-0. Steve Reed suffered the loss. The slumping Cyclones have dropped 24 in a row.
With Jacksonville leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Echevarria hit a curveball from Frankie Rodriguez for a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Suns ahead, 6-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Echevarria said. "We did a good job of that today."
