Slammers Beat Visiting Cyclones, 9-5
|
The Southeast Slammers topped the Brooklyn Cyclones by the score of 9-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Jose R Herrera. Herrera was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Slammers on the day. The Slammers, now 13-18, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
The Cyclones had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Slammers going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old left fielder Ron Jones came to the plate. Jones hit a 2-run single on a 2-0 changeup from Brooklyn hurler Frank Viola. It was Jones's 6th hit of the year.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Southeast manager .
