Bragg Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Asheville in Walk-Off Win
|
The Asheville Moonshiners overcame a good performance by Brooklyn third baseman Pedro Castellano to knock off Brooklyn, 7-6, at Torrance Grounds. Castellano was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tim Wakefield got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. Asheville has now won 3 straight, while the Cyclones have lost 27 in a row.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Asheville center fielder Darren Bragg had a chance to be the hero. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Jose Cabrera with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Bragg hit a walk-off run-scoring single.
"That's how to finish a ballgame," said Bragg.
