Mud Hens Edge Past Blue Crabs, 5-4
|
Toledo beat Ocean City at Fire Dogs Ballpark, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Mike A. Bell, who earned player of the game honors. Toledo reliever Greg Hansell picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Gabe White absorbed the loss. Mike James earned the save for Toledo, his 8th.
Bell had an impressive at-bat with the game on the line. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-2 curveball from Rocky Childress for a 2-run triple. Just like that, the Mud Hens took the lead, 5-4.
"It was a good effort all around," said Bell.
The Mud Hens, now 12-18, know that wins in April count the same as wins in September.
