Young goes 3-for-4 as Bisons Squeeze Past Hartford
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Kevin Young, the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Hartford Whalers, 12-11. Young was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Bisons. Buffalo reliever Bill Wilkinson was credited with the win, to go to 4-0. Turk Wendell took the loss for Hartford. Tim Fortugno earned save number 13.

Young contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Buffalo in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Young took a changeup from Jack Armstrong and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Bisons to leap in front, 4-1.

"We maximized our offense today," said Buffalo skipper . "That makes everyone's life easier."

The Bisons improved to a lofty 26-8.
