The Columbus Clippers picked up a win at Mules Ballpark, knocking off the Jacksonville Suns, 6-3. Starting pitcher Glendon Rusch was an essential part of his team's success. Rusch, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 11, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. Nelson Cruz was credited with the save for Columbus, his 7th of the season.
Alex Hernandez, who is tied for 8th in the ATL in bases on balls with 22, aided the Columbus cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a walk.
Hernandez called the win "a collective effort."
