Whalers Score Late, Upend Dairy Daddies, 4-2
|
The Hartford Whalers got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Mike Thurman, but it was good enough for the club to take a 4-2 decision over the Danville Dairy Daddies. Cory Lidle nailed down his 16th save. Hartford is now riding a 5-game win streak.
Todd Walker, who is tied for 4th in the ATL with a 1.039 OPS, contributed to the Hartford win with a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I like what I saw today," said Hartford manager , "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
