Whalers Reel Off Another Win
|
The Hartford Whalers beat the Danville Dairy Daddies, 6-1, at Kernels Ballpark. The Whalers got a fine performance from first baseman Todd Walker, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Bobby Chouinard picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 5-0. Mark Petkovsek earned the save for Hartford, his 3rd.
Hartford used the bat of Kurt Abbott to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Whalers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Slowly but surely, the wins are piling up," said Walker.
The winning streak has now reached 6 games for Hartford.
