Expos Lose to Senators, 5-2
The Washington Senators got a stellar performance from pitcher Jim Neidlinger, who handcuffed the Montreal offense en route to a 5-2 win at Olympic Stadium. Neidlinger picked up the win for Washington, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. The Senators, now 11-4, have been on fire in the early going.

Washington designated hitter Eric Davis had a key at-bat for the Senators in the top of the fourth inning. Facing right-hander Pedro Martinez, Davis hit a 2-run home run. It put Washington in front, 3-1. For the day, Davis was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Neidlinger. "Successful pitchers do it."
