Dairy Daddies Score Late, Upend Clippers, 6-4
|
Columbus got a terrific game from designated hitter Tilson Brito. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Danville, 6-4. Brito was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jay Witasick picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-2. John Wetteland was tagged with the loss. The Dairy Daddies, now 19-26, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Shawn Gilbert, who is tied for 5th in the ATL in triples with 3, helped out the Danville cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Gilbert.
