Victory Pushes Devil Rays Record to 11-6
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Jose Valentin, the Orlando Devil Rays defeated the Charlotte Knights, 6-5. Valentin went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Devil Rays. Orlando, now 11-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Tim Salmon, who finished 5th in the UL in slugging percentage with .578 in 1994, aided the Orlando cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 3 with a walk.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Valentin, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
