Big Day by Davis Ignites Cyclones Win
|
In a high-scoring contest between Brooklyn and Columbus, right fielder Chili Davis was a difference-maker. Davis earned player of the game honors in the 11-9 Brooklyn win. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Brooklyn reliever Randy Hennis picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Paul Byrd absorbed the loss. Brooklyn is now 24-23, Columbus 19-28.
Mike Marshall changed the game with one swing of the bat. With no one out in the top of the eighth, the Brooklyn first baseman hammered a 3-run home run off Paul Byrd. It was his 6th home run of the season. With it, Brooklyn took the lead, 11-9.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Brooklyn manager .
