Swamp Foxes Come Back Late to Top Whalers
|
The Savannah Swamp Foxes trumped the Hartford Whalers, 9-4, at Paradise Grounds. Savannah center fielder Koji Goto was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to Dustin Hermanson in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Rich Batchelor took the loss. Savannah goes to 32-16. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.
Savannah took a 6-4 lead on Goto's 60th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which he hit off Brad Cornett in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Savannah to the win.
"Winning is contagious," said Goto. "We're looking forward to the next game."
