Suns Roll to 9-3 Win Over Slammers
|
The Jacksonville Suns stopped the Southeast Slammers, 9-3, behind an impressive performance from Carlos A. Hernandez. The 27-year old catcher made life miserable for Southeast pitching. He went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Trevor Wilson earned the win for Jacksonville. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. Jacksonville has a 3-game win streak, while Southeast has lost 3 in a row.
The Suns had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 9-2, Jacksonville, with no one out. Southeast, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Ron Jones dug in at the plate, but on a 1-0 slider, he hit into a double play.
