Whalers Score Late, Top Blue Crabs, 6-5

The Hartford Whalers beat the Ocean City Blue Crabs, 6-5, at Fire Dogs Ballpark. The Whalers got a fine performance from first baseman Todd Walker, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Hartford reliever Brady Raggio picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Ramon Morel took the loss. The first-place Whalers have won 5 consecutive games.
Late-game drama came in the top of the eighth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the batter, Todd Walker, hit a run-scoring single. It helped Hartford seize the win.
"If it's down the middle," said Walker, "you might as well hit it."
