Clippers Snatch 2-1 Win
|
Felipe Lira pitched well, but his team, the Savannah Swamp Foxes, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Columbus Clippers at Paradise Grounds. Jim Bruske closed the door for Columbus, picking up his 1st save of the year. Their 25-31 record puts the Clippers 4th in the Atlantic Northeast.
With runs few and far between, the Clippers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Columbus came in the top of the first inning, when shortstop Luis Sojo delivered a 2-run double. The double was hit off Felipe Lira and made the score 2-0, Clippers. Sojo was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll savor this win," Sojo told the Columbus Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
