Athletics Stymie Baltimore, Take 6-1 Win
|
The Oakland Athletics topped the Baltimore Orioles, 6-1, in United League action at Memorial Stadium. The player of the game was Oakland pitcher and Sunnyside, Washington native Todd Stottlemyre. Stottlemyre picked up the win for Oakland, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. The save was John Mitchell's, his 1st.
The Athletics beat the Orioles with some clutch hitting. The home run by Devon White in the top of the first is a good example. With two down, White gave his team the lead, 3-0, when he came through with the big hit.
Stottlemyre called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Athletics, with only their 4th win in 17 games, have not had much to write home about in 1995.
