Cordero Leads Charge, Hartford Blasts Swamp Foxes
|
The Hartford Whalers met little resistance from the Savannah Swamp Foxes, beating them 18-2 at Wolves Ballpark. Wil Cordero led the way. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Hartford. Hartford starter David Nied was credited with the win after throwing 121 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. Hartford has an impressive 39-18 record.
John Wehner was a prime factor in the win for the Whalers. In the bottom of the eighth with one out, the 27-year old third baseman hit a grand slam. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once.
"The Whalers definitely had our number," said Savannah manager .
