Hartford Whalers starter Mike Thurman pitched a strong game against the Columbus Clippers at Wolves Ballpark, leading the Whalers to a 4-2 win. Cory Lidle recorded his 20th save for Hartford. The Whalers improved to a lofty 45-17.

Dave Hansen took Glendon Rusch deep in the bottom of the second. His 3-run home run put the Whalers in front, 3-0. For the game, Hansen was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Hansen said.
