Yankees Beat Visiting Pirates, 2-1
|
The 1994 season is off to a good start for the New York Yankees. The hometown Yankees knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 2-1, at Yankee Stadium. New York pitcher Jim Abbott was named player of the game. Calvin Schiraldi was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Pittsburgh hurler Bryan Clark, Paul Sorrento hit a run-scoring double. The Yankees went on to win.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Pittsburgh manager Stephen Ginter, "let me know."
