Red Sox Best Twins in Pitching Duel
|
Fenway Park was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
The Boston Red Sox got a strong performance from pitcher John Smiley, who stymied the Minnesota offense en route to a 2-0 win at Fenway Park. The Twins fall to 8-10 and continue their lackluster start to the 1994 season.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With the bases loaded and Minnesota trailing 2-0, Tom Henke needed to get a big out. On a first pitch fastball, Dave Staton grounded out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
