Red Sox Deal Twins Painful Loss
|
The Fenway Park faithful were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
Boston left fielder Barry Bonds had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 5-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. Boston reliever Roberto Hernandez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bob Ayrault absorbed the loss.
An important at-bat for Boston came with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Bonds hit a walk-off run-scoring single, which contributed to the Red Sox win.
Bonds called the triumph "a good team win."
The Twins fall to 6-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1997 season.
