Dairy Daddies Clip Slammers, 7-6
|
The Danville Dairy Daddies overcame a good performance by Southeast right fielder Ron Jones to knock off Southeast, 7-6, at Ravens Ballpark. Jones was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Doug Bochtler picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Brian Dubois was tagged with the loss. Joe Borowski finished the game for Danville and earned his 16th save.
Danville relied on the hitting of Kirk Gibson to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Dairy Daddies on top, 7-0. For the game, Gibson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Gibson told the Danville News.
The slumping Slammers have lost 7 straight.
