Velandia Helps Suns Beat Whalers
Jacksonville shortstop Jorge Velandia had a 5-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 9-5 win over the Hartford Whalers. The Suns improve their record to 35-32 with the win over Hartford.

The Suns got a big at-bat from second baseman Chris Gomez. For the game, Gomez went 2 for 5 with a home run. In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Jacksonville a 6-5 lead.

"Enjoyed this one," Gomez told the Jacksonville News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
