Moonshiners Win at Ocean City, 6-3
|
Asheville right-hander Orel Hershiser made an effective start against the Ocean City Blue Crabs at Fire Dogs Ballpark, leading his team to a 6-3 win. Hershiser, now 3-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Mike Draper, credited with the save, is now 13 for 14 in save opportunities.
Chris Stynes contributed an important at-bat in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was one at-bat that helped send Asheville to the win.
"This is a very good team," said Hershiser. "We have the chance to do something special."
Asheville is second in the Atlantic Southeast with a record of 38-29.
