Ikeyama Bangs Out 6 Base Hits
|
It seemed that Danville shortstop Takahiro Ikeyama could do no wrong as the Dairy Daddies KO'd the Cyclones, 21-16 today. Ikeyama rapped out 6 hits in 8 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Cyclones hurlers were throwing.
"I think the Dairy Daddies were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Brooklyn fan after the game.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Ikeyama in the postgame press interview.
Takahiro Ikeyama singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, walked in a run in the 9th, singled in the 11th and hit a two-run double in the 12th.
Thus far in 1997 Ikeyama is hitting .240 with 4 home runs, 41 RBIs, 37 runs scored and has compiled a .320 OBP.
