Victory Pushes Suns Record to 36-33
|
Jacksonville starter Clint Sodowsky pitched effectively against the Columbus Clippers at Field of the Running Rebels. The right-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. Sodowsky got the win, improving to 4-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. Sodowsky allowed 1 earned run. The save was credited to Shayne Bennett, his 2nd.
The Suns got a big at-bat from right fielder Ozzie Timmons. For the game, Timmons went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Jacksonville a 3-0 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Sodowsky told the Jacksonville News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Jacksonville's record now stands at 36-33, placing them 4th in the Atlantic Southeast.
