Clippers Get Past Asheville for 4-3 Win
The Columbus Clippers defeated the Asheville Moonshiners, 4-3, in Atlantic action at Mules Ballpark, with Columbus pitcher Jim Converse named player of the game. Paul Byrd got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The Clippers, now 34-38, have won 4 in a row.

The Clippers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Shawn Hare, who in the bottom of the ninth hit a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Clippers on top, 4-3.

Asheville manager said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
