Beasties Prove Rude Guests, Win 4-3 at Hartford
The Bluff City Beasties picked up a win at Wolves Ballpark, knocking off the Hartford Whalers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Steve W Sparks, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Sparks, now 7-7. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. Kevin Wickander, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.

The Beasties grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With one out, Paul Sorrento hit a 2-run home run off Robert Person, putting Bluff City in front, 3-0. For Sorrento, it was his 13th home run of the season.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Sorrento told the Bluff City Times.

After today's action, Bluff City sits at 37-36, while Hartford falls to 51-22.
