Red Wings Turn Back Jacksonville, 9-8
|
Jacksonville second baseman Chris Gomez had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to Rochester at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. Gomez was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Tom Urbani got the win, improving to 7-7. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Chuck Crim recorded the save for Rochester, his 12th of the season.
Kevin Koslofski, who is tied for 8th in the ATL in triples with 4, contributed to the Rochester win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Rochester skipper .
Rochester is now 30-43, while Jacksonville is 39-34.
