Dairy Daddies Get Road Win, 5-1
|
Benefiting from Brant Brown's productive game, the Danville Dairy Daddies downed the Hartford Whalers, 5-1. Brown was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs for the Dairy Daddies. Reliever Ron Mahay picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Chris Holt took the loss. Jay Witasick converted his 3rd save in 6 tries.
The Dairy Daddies got a gift in the top of the first inning. With the game was tied, 0-0, Rusty Greer reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run. It made the score 1-0, Danville.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Danville manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
The last-place Dairy Daddies improved to 36-40.
