Torrance Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Asheville Moonshiners and the Rochester Red Wings.

The Moonshiners had to overcome a fine effort from Rochester pitcher Jose Mercedes to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Torrance Grounds. Mercedes went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Asheville reliever Jeff Juden was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Tim Scott.

Kevin L Brown, the Asheville catcher, contributed a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 4-3, Moonshiners. For the game, Brown went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"This place sure got loud," said , the Asheville manager.

Asheville is now 43-33, while Rochester is 30-46.
