The Columbus Clippers defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones, 5-3, in Atlantic action at Ballpark of Fremont, with Columbus pitcher Jeff Pico named player of the game. Doug Simons, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities. Columbus bumps their record to 36-42 with the win.

The Clippers got a clutch hit from Alvaro Espinoza with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Espinoza jumped on a 2-1 sinker from Steve Reed and hit a run-scoring single, staking his club to a 4-2 lead.

"This was a good win," said Pico.
