Slammers Squelch Whalers Offense in Shutout Win
Wolves Ballpark was the site for Atlantic action featuring the Hartford Whalers and Southeast Slammers.

Southeast rode a fine outing from starter Steve Karsay to victory over the Hartford Whalers at Wolves Ballpark. The final score was 5-0. The win boosts the Slammers to 34-45. The loss puts the Whalers at 54-25.

The Slammers got a big at-bat from center fielder Jose R Herrera, who in the top of the fifth hit a run-scoring single. It was his 83rd hit of the season and put the Slammers on top, 2-0.

Karsay attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
