Danville right-hander Cal Eldred made an effective start against the Rochester Red Wings at Kernels Ballpark, leading his team to a 5-4 win. Eldred went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 6-10. Mike Fyhrie got the save, his 6th in 8 chances.

The Dairy Daddies got an important contribution from third baseman Mike Blowers, who in the bottom of the sixth stroked a 1-2 fastball into left for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Dairy Daddies ahead, 5-4.

"We found a way to get it done," Eldred said.

Danville is last in the Atlantic Southeast with a record of 38-43.
