Red Wings Raise Rally Flag, Beat Danville, 5-4
|
The Danville Dairy Daddies got a superb performance from third baseman Mike Blowers. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Rochester. The Red Wings won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Blowers was named the player of the game. He went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Chuck Crim got the save, his 14th in 16 chances. Rochester's record now stands at 34-48, placing them 5th in the Atlantic Northeast.
Rochester used the timely hitting of Rich Aurilia to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Wings on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Danville manager .
