The Jacksonville Suns racked up a win at Ravens Ballpark, bumping off the Bluff City Beasties, 8-3. Ryan Bowen, who started for Jacksonville, pitched effectively for his team. The Suns are now 43-38, while the Beasties fall to 40-41.

One of the stars of the game was Jacksonville shortstop Jorge Velandia. In the top of the fifth with one out, he got a knuckle curve from Steve W Sparks and hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-1 in favor of the Suns.

Velandia said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
