Victory Pushes Moonshiners Record to 49-35
|
Asheville first baseman Randall Simon was instrumental in his team's 6-3 win over the Bluff City Beasties. Simon, who is tied for 8th in the ATL in total bases with 181, went 3-4 with no runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Moonshiners. At 49-35, Asheville is in first place in the Atlantic Southeast.
Simon had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Pat Combs, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Moonshiners a 3-2 lead. It was the 18th double of the year for Simon.
Simon said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
