Swamp Foxes Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus Columbus
|
It was a good time at Paradise Grounds, where fans came to watch the Columbus Clippers and Savannah Swamp Foxes get after it.
Columbus got a terrific game from center fielder Wendell Magee. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Savannah, 7-3. Magee was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Shawn Estes picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 4-2.
Charlie Hayes came through for the Swamp Foxes in the bottom of the second inning. With Savannah leading 1-0, the first baseman had a 2-run single.
Hayes called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The 'W' lifts Savannah's record to 48-37.
