Swamp Foxes Rally For Late Win Over Clippers
|
The Columbus Clippers got a superb performance from second baseman Carlos Garcia, but the Savannah Swamp Foxes still won the game, 4-3. Garcia was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Savannah is now 49-37.
Tied up with the Clippers in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Swamp Foxes got a boost from designated hitter Tony Longmire. With the bases loaded, Longmire saw a 1-0 fastball from Wayne Gomes and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Savannah on top, 4-3.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Columbus manager said following the tough loss.
