Cyclones Lose Again, 9-6, to Clippers
The Columbus Clippers beat the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-6, at Mules Ballpark. Columbus first baseman Derrek Lee earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Osvaldo Fernandez went 6.1 innings for Columbus to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 6 earned runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record improves to 6-7. The losses continue to add up for Brooklyn, which has now fallen 15 times in a row.

The Clippers got an important contribution from shortstop Alex Hernandez, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a 1-1 fastball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Clippers ahead, 1-0.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Lee.
