Moonshiners Mow Down Slammers, 10-3
|
The Asheville Moonshiners downed the Southeast Slammers, 10-3, at Torrance Grounds. Rikkert Faneyte led the way, going 4-for-4 for Asheville. Asheville reliever Ricardo Jordan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dan Miceli was saddled with the loss. The Moonshiners, at 59-33, lead by one game in their division.
The Moonshiners got a big at-bat from catcher Jesse Levis. For the game, Levis was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 81st hit of the season gave Asheville a 3-2 lead.
"We've got a great group of guys," Levis said, "and we're having fun right now."
