Thrilling Victory Pushes Moonshiners Win Streak to 6
|
The Asheville Moonshiners topped the Milwaukee Otters, 6-5, at Torrance Grounds. Asheville first baseman Randall Simon earned player of the game honors. He banged out 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Asheville reliever Julio Machado picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Mark Clear was saddled with the loss. Asheville has now won 6 straight.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Asheville first baseman Randall Simon. In the bottom of the 11th inning, with one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Simon hit a walk-off run-scoring single to help Asheville seize the win.
Simon said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
