Cyclones Jolt Moonshiners with Late Rally
|
The Ballpark of Fremont faithful were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Phil Nevin, the Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Asheville Moonshiners, 8-7. Nevin went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times for the Cyclones. Paul Abbott, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings.
One of the biggest contributors for Brooklyn was third baseman Mike Glendenning. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, Glendenning got a first pitch curveball and hit a sacrifice fly. That put the Cyclones on top, 8-7.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Glendenning said.
At 48-47, Brooklyn is in third place in the Atlantic Northeast.
