Rijo in Command, No-Hits Creams
|
Is it better to be lucky or good?
After leading the Cincinnati Reds to victory, 1-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Milwaukee Creams, Jose Rijo didn't have the answer.
"I don't know," Rijo said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both."
On his big day at Milwaukee County Stadium, Rijo fanned 8 and had 4 walks. And it seemed that when the Creams managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender.
"That's how you get a no-hitter," Rijo said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck."
