Senators Walk Off with Win
|
The Washington Senators got a magnificent performance from pitcher Livan Hernandez, who muffled the Seattle offense en route to a tight 2-1 Senators win at RFK Stadium. Washington, now 14-4, is setting the league on fire so far.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher John Flaherty came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Seattle pitcher Alan Embree, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 2-1.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Washington manager Alexander Cumana.
