The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Minnesota Twins, 8-3, with first baseman Brian S Giles playing a big role. Giles went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Cardinals in the win. Allan Anderson earned the win for St. Louis. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1. St. Louis used a timely hit from Steve Finley to get the win. The left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
