Twins Edge Rangers, 2-1
|
Texas got a terrific performance from pitcher Kenny Rogers, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota won the Metrodome contest, 2-1. Rogers was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Minnesota has a record of 1-1.
Frank Thomas had a nice at-bat for the Twins with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With the bases loaded, the first baseman hit a walk-off run-scoring single, which would prove important in the Minnesota win.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Thomas told the Minnesota Times. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
